Hey cake chums!
Welcome back to another issue of Something Sweet, your weekly slice of all the latest news from the world of cake.
As I was perusing the Black Friday deals this week, I was suddenly struck by just how many cake products which have come to market in the last few years have been invented, designed and developed by actual cake makers.
From cake smoothers to modelling tools, consumables and pastes to royal icing stencils, there seems to be a whole host of talented innovators who are working hard behind the scenes to solve the problems that we all face when we are creating – but we NEVER seem to know anything about it until their products are released!
It got me wondering, what must that be like? Trying to work on developing a brand new product alongside running a busy cake business (and in the case of some of our creators, even working another job too!).
It also made me wonder how one goes about taking an idea and turning it into a real life product, so I thought I would reach out to some of this new generation of cake-trepreneurs, find out a little bit more about their journeys and gather some top tips on how YOU might go about creating the ‘next big thing’ in cake.
And we also have a whole host of your favourite features too, including meeting a multi-, MULTI-award-winning maker, finding out which Instagrammers regularly inspire Janette MacPherson, previewing Paul Bradford’s 5 Day Wedding Cake class 2020, THREE gorgeous collaborations and, of course, a whole host of beautiful cake creations – including this week’s Cake of the Week!
Enjoy the issue – you can find it here!
