Rob Baker-Gall is the award-winning cake artist, baker, writer, blogger and content creator behind Mr Baker’s Cakes. Alongside creating content both here on Mr Baker’s Cakes: The Blog and over on his YouTube channel, Rob’s articles, recipes and tutorials have also been featured in a variety of magazines, including Baking Heaven, Cake Masters, Cake Decorating and Sugarcraft and Cakes and Sugarcraft, as well as on BBC’s Blue Peter and Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice.
Rob was lucky enough to grow up in a family where home baking was the norm and he originally developed his interest, watching in awe as his grandmother whipped up everything from homemade jams and preserves, through to Christmas cakes, puddings and even more besides.
After experimenting with a variety of professions from nursing to pub management, Rob finally settled on primary school teaching, while continuing to indulge his passion for all things baking and cake decorating as a hobby. He eventually stumbled into the world of competitive cake decorating, after winning a local community cake decorating competition and since 2019, he has forged ahead with a career path that manages to combine both his love of teaching and his love of baking – and sometimes even manages to combine the two.
Rob works with leading UK brands including Renshaw, Rainbow Dust and Kenwood to produce regular baking and cake decorating content, as well as appearing at live food festivals and events across the UK – and further afield.
Mr Baker’s Cakes: The Blog has been named as one of the top ten UK cake decorating blogs by Feedspot.com.
