Baking along with the Great British Bake Off: Week Three – BREAD

Hey Cake Chums!

It’s week three of The Great British Bake Off and, this week, it was Bread Week! You know things are getting serious when Bread Week rolls around – the standards get higher and the judging gets harsher (and dare I say meaner…?).

As most of you know, every week during series 10 of GBBO, I will be attempting each episode’s technical challenge, following the same rules, timings and recipe as the bakers in the tent and filming the entire experience, before uploading it over on my YouTube channel.

So in bread week, that means I was tackling Paul Hollywood’s floured burger baps AND homemade veggie burgers with all the trimmings.

There was certainly a lot to do – as you will see for yourself in my video below…

So, have you watched this week’s epsiode yet? Will you be attempting any of this week’s bakes? Let me know in the comments…

If you want to follow along with my #bakealongwithGBBO adventures, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and, if you would like to receive a notification every time I upload a new video, you can also hit the bell icon.

Thanks so much for watching guys and I’ll see you on Sunday for another issue of Something Sweet magazine!

Baking along with the Great British Bake Off: Week Two – BISCUITS

Hey Cake Chums!

It’s week two of The Great British Bake Off and, this week, the bakers were tackling biscuits – with a chocolate-covered biscuit bar signature, a fig roll technical and a showstopper that saw them crafting elaborate biscuit sculptures.

As I explained last Friday, every week during series 10 of GBBO, I will be attempting each episode’s technical challenge, following the same rules, timings and recipe as the bakers in the tent and filming the entire experience, before uploading it over on my YouTube channel.

So in biscuit week, that means I was tackling Paul Hollywood’s fig rolls – a slightly spicier take on the classic recipe.

The bakers experienced mixed results with their technical creations, and I won’t lie, it’s certainly trickier than it looks – you can see for yourself in my video below…

Or click here to watch the video over on YouTube.

So, have you watched Biscuit Week yet? As always, no spoilers, but were you as sad as I was to see a certain someone go home? Have you already got a favourite baker? Are you planning on attempting Paul’s fig rolls? Or will you be having a go at any of the other Biscuit Week recipes? Be sure to let me know your thoughts down in the comments section below.

Baking along with the Great British Bake Off: Week One – CAKES

Hey Cake Chums!

The Great British Bake Off is back and you know what that means… Yup, my #bakealongwithGBBO is back too!

Every single week during series 10 of GBBO, I will be attempting that week’s technical challenge, following the same rules, timings and recipe as the bakers in the tent.

But there’s MORE: new for 2019, not only will I be attempting the challenge – I will also be videoing the entire experience and posting it over on my YouTube channel!

This week, it was Cake Week in the tent, with the bakers facing a fruity signature challenge, creating decorated fruit cakes in only two hours; whipping up a pretty complex technical, three layer angel cake slices; and creating extravagant birthday cakes, inspired by their own childhoods.

I won’t post any spoilers here in case you haven’t yet caught up with this week’s episode, but I definitely enjoyed watching and am looking forward to getting to know this new batch of bakers better over the coming weeks.

When it came to my own experience, taking on their technical challenge, it certainly wasn’t easy – but I’ll let you check it out for yourself in the video below…

So what did you think of week one? Are you enjoying our new batch of bakers? Did the right person go home? Have you already got a favourite? Are you planning on attempting Prue’s Angel Cake Slices? Or will you be having a go at any of the other Cake Week recipes? Be sure to let me know your thoughts down in the comments section below.
