Introducing… the Kenwood Kids Club!

Hey cake chums,

Apologies once again for neglecting you of late, but hopefully the following announcement will explain why…

I am super thrilled to finally be able to tell you that I am joining #TeamKenwood as the host of their brand new weekly cooking show, the Kenwood Kids Club!

As you know, during lockdown, alongside my own weekly Mr Baker’s Cake School videos, I was also filming a monthly live baking demonstration over on the Kenwood Facebook page. Well, during our…. ‘conversations’, the team at Kenwood and I realised that we share a very real passion: encouraging and inspiring the next generation of junior cooks, chefs and bakers to get creative in the kitchen!

After lots of discussions, Zoom meetings, socially distanced in-person meetings, phone calls and even more besides, the Kenwood Kids Club was born!

Designed to be a fully immersive and interactive experience for our young cooks, chefs and bakers, the Kenwood Kids Club will include weekly live cooking and baking demonstrations over on our brand new YouTube channel, as well as a whole host of other activities, competitions and more at our new website, which you can find at this link.

So if you know of any creative cooks, budding bakers or… (ok, I can’t think of an alliterative adjective to go with ‘chefs’) …enthusiastic chefs, then I do hope that you will be able to send them over to join me on YouTube at 4pm today for our first LIVE cooking demonstration, during which we will be making a batch of deliciously zingy lemon cupcakes!

And don’t worry if you don’t have much of a sweet tooth, because we’ll also be turning our attentions to a whole host of savoury recipes too!

Over the next few months, I’m also going to be joined by a whole host of incredible guest chefs, including food writer and chef, Theo A Michaels and TV presenter and Celebrity Masterchef winner, Angelica Bell! You really won’t want to miss out, so head to the website now to find out more and I’ll see you at 4pm for episode one of the Kenwood Kids Club!

Episode 6 of Mr Baker’s Cake School is LIVE!

Hey Cake Chums and welcome back to episode 6 of Mr Baker’s Cake School.

As you may have seen, every Friday, while the schools are closed, I am sharing a brand new, child-friendly baking lesson (with the occasional bit of maths and more squeezed in too) to help support you and your families with your home learning.

However, please don’t think they are only suitable for children – plenty of adults have been joining in and sharing their baking results too.

This week, as I’m still at Mummy Baker’s house, I thought we would have a go at a recipe in her honour, so this week, we’re making… WELSH CAKES!

Now, I don’t actually have my own recipe for Welsh Cakes because (rather shamefully), I don’t actually make them all that often. So instead, I reached out to one of my favourite bakers from The Great British Bake Off 2019, who was more than happy to help out.

In fact, look out for a little cameo from her in the video… 😉

To find out who I mean, and to learn how to make a batch of delicious Welsh Cakes, you can either watch the video right here on the blog, or why not head over to YouTube where you can catch up on any episodes you may have missed and hit that all-important subscribe button?

And, as always, if you and/or your family bake along with episode 6 of Mr Baker’s Cake School, then remember to share the results of your baking adventures with me over on social media – I love seeing what you are all baking at home and, you never know, your photos might just make it into next week’s video!

You can find me on Facebook hereInstagram here and on Twitter here.

Oh, and please do share feel free to share the video with any individuals or groups that you think would find it useful.

Until next time… happy caking!

xx

PS. Don’t forget to get your entries in for my Kenwood kMix giveaway! You have until Thursday 7th May!

Episode 5 of Mr Baker’s Cake School is LIVE!

Hey Cake Chums and welcome back to episode 5 of Mr Baker’s Cake School.

As you have probably seen by now, every Friday, during the national school closures, I am uploading a child-friendly baking lesson (with the occasional bit of maths and more squeezed in too) to help support you and your families with your home learning.

However, please don’t think they are only suitable for children – plenty of adults have been joining in and sharing their baking results too.

This week, I thought I would share my recipe for one of my favourite biscuity bakes… deliciously spicy gingerbread men!

The perfect recipe to have in your baking arsenal, my take on gingerbread is also perfect for building traditional gingerbread houses at Christmas too, so once you have had a go at this week’s challenge, you might want to tuck this one away for later in the year too.

As you may have spotted from the thumbnail, this week’s episode also has a rather exciting extra dimension, as I am giving away a brand new Kenwood kMix stand mixer to one lucky winner and they will even get to choose the colour! Find the link to the full terms and conditions at the bottom of this post.

To find out more and to enter the competition, you can either watch the video right here on the blog, or why not head over to YouTube where you can catch up on any episodes you may have missed and hit that all-important subscribe button?

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored video, however I have previously worked with Kenwood producing content for their Facebook page. I was ‘paid’ in product for this work and have decided to pass the product (in the form of a kMix stand mixer) on to the winner of my giveaway… 🙂 The full competition terms and conditions can be found at this link.
