Pop the kettle on, it’s time for #SS23!

Introducing issue 23 of Something Sweet, my online weekly magazine with all the latest news from the world of cake.

It has been another action-packed week in cake and #SS23 is once again bursting at the seams with news and events!

Hannah Edwards AKA The Cake Illusionist continues to make waves with her realistic animal cakes; some familiar faces popped up on Netflix’s newest cake show, Sugar Rush; and if you have any questions regarding your competition entry for Cake International, then head judge Karen Keaney and Senior Judge Ben Fullard would like to hear from you ahead of their live Q&A on the 30th July.

We also hear from Sugar Street Studios regarding her new venture in partnership with The Cake Decorating Company; there’s a fabulous new tutorial from Jamie Nicole Cakes for the Innovative Sugarworks blog; top wafer paper artist, Daniel Bakes announces his first classes in the UK; and I share a beautiful collaboration.

And if all that wasn’t enough, we also get to go behind the scenes of Eat Cake Party’s latest largest-than-life build AND check out Novel-T Cakes recent international newsworthy scoop!

Oh, and of course there is the small matter of this week’s all-important Cake of the Week – will it be one of yours?

Grab your morning cuppa, it’s time for #SS22!

Welcome to issue 22 of Something Sweet, my online weekly magazine with all the latest news from the world of cake.

This week, #SS22 is positively bursting at the seams with a colossal amount of news, including some exciting announcements from the team behind NISE – the UK’s newest cake show, a fantastic opportunity for cakers looking for a bit of television exposure from Raise the Roof Productions and a super fun Wimbledon themed recipe from Renshaw Baking.

There are two beautiful collaborations to check out, I shine my spotlight on everyone’s favourite GBBO ‘illusion cake’ maker, Steven Carter-Bailey and I take you behind the scenes of the super-talented Tina Scott Parashar’s Cake Design’s recent visit to the UK.

Following some conflicting information from Rolkem HQ after this week’s Food Alert for Action from the Food Standard Agency (FSA), I’ve also spent some time laying bare exactly where we all stand with the latest developments in the #RolkemSaga.

Oh, and of course there is the small matter of this week’s all-important Cake of the Week – will it be one of yours?

Also featuring The Cake Illusionist, Boutique Bakes and Cakes by Ness Bolton, Clairella Cakes, Emma Jayne Cake Design, DESSERT INSIDER, Amaysing Bakes by Claire, CPC’s Pirates of the Caribbean Collaboration, Self-Portrait of a Cookier and Chef Benny Rivera.
