It’s time for a little helping of Something Sweet…

Welcome to another issue of Something Sweet, your weekly slice of all the latest news from the world of cake.

In this week’s issue, we check out the new luxury cake academy opening early next year and some of the awesome tutors that have already been lined up to teach, I’m asking for the best Black Friday deals that you have spotted this weekend and we check out the latest news to come out of NISE HQ.

We have a couple of stunning tutorials from Zoe’s Fancy Cakes and Koalipops, I shine my spotlight on Dmytrii Puga of Dmytrii Puga Cake Design, we see which bunch of awesome artists have scooped a prestigious international award and we find out who created an awesome cake for none other than Rita Ora!

In direct response to your requests to see a wider variety of artists featured, this week I have added a new feature, inspired by an Instagram trend from earlier this year: Meet the Maker. It’s a rapid fire interview that puts one of my subscribers on the spot so that we can get to know them a little better. Check out our first maker in this week’s issue.

Oh, and we find out who has scooped this week’s Cake of the Week, of course.

On a personal note, I also just wanted to say thank you so much to every one of your for your support over the last week. I was truly touched to see how many people commented, shared and showed their support for me in the UK Blog Awards and I will be forever grateful for you all. If you haven’t already done it, you can find out how to cast your vote at the end of this week’s issue.

Featuring Cassie Brown, FMM Sugarcraft, Cake Decoration & Sugarcraft Magazine, The Sugar Lair, Northern Ireland Sugar Expo (NISE), Kara Andretti, Sachiko Windbiel, Aaron McInnis, Claire Anderson, Benny Rivera, Michelle Boyd, Anjali Tambde, Divine Photography, Weddings by Nicola, Sweet Creation Ltd, Shereen’s Cakes and Bakes, The BakeKing and The Celtic Cakers Tutorial Book.

Welcome back to another helping of Something Sweet…

Hey y’all! Happy Sunday once again and welcome back to Something Sweet – your weekly slice of the latest news from the world of cake.

Before we get cracking previewing this week’s issue, I wonder if you will indulge me for a moment. This week, I discovered that Mr Baker’s Blog has been shortlisted for the UK Blog Awards!

I think they struggled to know where to place me – I mean, I don’t exactly follow a standard format do I? Larger-than-life projects, quirky recipes, cake tutorials, interviews, event coverage, class previews, product reviews and whatever else I can squeeze in..?

However, the powers that be have decided that ‘Best Culinary Blog’ category was the best fit.

If I am to proceed to the finalist stage, it is now down to your votes. So, pardon the cringe-factor for a moment, but if you enjoy reading Mr Baker’s Blog and feel like you would like to give me your vote, then you can find the voting form at this link.

Handy hint: I am on the second page of the culinary blogs.

While you’re there, you can also vote for your favourite blogs in all of the other categories if you wish, but don’t feel you have to.

Thank you and thanks for your ongoing support!

And now back to our regularly timetabled features… 😉 It’s been a quiet week on Mr Baker’s Blog this week and it seems like it has also been a somewhat quiet week on planet cake too.

However, there was one big excitement, with the launch of the new look Pretty Witty Cakes from Suzy Witt – naturally, I got in touch and asked her to tell us all about it.

We also have two adorable wintery cake toppers from Cake Dutchess and Xenia’s Cake Creations for you use to decorate your Christmas cakes this year, two ridiculously stunning collaborations and a showstopping creation from Janette MacPherson Cake Craft.

Oh, and we crown this week’s Cake of the Week, of course!

Also featuring: Birthday Mischief, Mitchie’s Munchies, Incredible India, Global Sugar Artist Network, Tina Scott Parashar and My Little Bakery.

Do make sure you scroll right to the end too – I am after some feedback from you all!

Introducing Something Sweet – the Cake International Special!

After the whirlwind of excitement that was Cake International 2018, the 25th Anniversary edition last weekend, I was straight back to the coal face – in that I was back at my desk in my classroom at 7am on Monday morning and wondering how I could best begin to share the awesome experience of the weekend.

I’ll admit that I was a little bit intimidated – how do you squeeze three amazing days chock full of awesomeness into only one blog post?! So rather than panic about it, I decided to tell you all about my highlights of the weekend and I hope that you will get involved and comment and share your own best bits too. After all, I couldn’t be everywhere at the weekend and I am sure that I missed loads of amazing stuff!

Of course, just because this is the Cake International Special, doesn’t mean that the cake world ground to a halt this week, so we’ll also be checking out what else has been going on over the last seven days on planet cake, including a real showstopping cake from Rosie Cake-Diva, some all-important dates for your spring diary, a surprise appearance from one of our favourite cakers on Disney Junior this week and a wonderful collaboration that I was delighted to be a part of.

We’ll also be crowning this week’s Cake of the Week winner, of course.

Featuring… Oh, pretty much everyone!
